ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

J.J. Abrams, Star Wars The Force Awakens co-writer and director along with Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, have decided to reveal the identities of some of their new characters in an oldie but goodie fashion, which will bring a smile to any card collector and Star Wars fan.

Topps trading card company, which in addition to it’s baseball, and comic book collectible cards, was also kmown to feature scenes and characters from around the galaxy for the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

In this collection there were five rounds of Topps cards for that movie, each card specified by a different color, with red and blue leading the line-up. And now in 2014, Abrams and Kennedy have mocked up three from the red series, and five from the blue series.

Here’s a rundown of the reveal, listed in order of their collectible card number. (You can check out the images in the gallery.)
• #11 — BB-8 on the move
• #53 — Poe Dameron in his X-Wing
• #67 — Kylo Ren ignites his Lightsaber
• #74 — Rey on her Speeder
• #76 — Finn on the run
• #81 — Stormtroopers prepare for battle
• #88 — X-Wings in formation
• #96 — The Millennium Falcon

When asked if there was significance to the numbering, Abrams replied: “YES.” It looks like there will be some investigating to go along with the trading cards

What a dope way to introduce the new characters for the film set to be released next December. And if you have not seen the trailer check it out below.
