You wouldn’t think of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings as a budding rivalry, but there is certainly a war of words going on between players on both rosters and it’s heating up.

Earlier this season, with the Thunder attempting to hold off a comeback from the Kings, Oklahoma City center Kendrick Perkins was caught by a camera suggesting “These  mother****ers are still the Sacramento Kings” during a huddle. Understandably that didn’t sit well with those in the Sacramento organization, namely forward Rudy Gay.

Kendrick Perkins spoke negatively of the Kings early in season. Rudy Gay: “He might as well play with his face painted, he’s a clown to me.”

Of course, it’s not as if Rudy Gay and his Sacramento Kings have a lot to back themselves up with as they’ve went into a downward spiral without DeMarcus Cousins (currently dealing with viral meningitis). On the flip side, Gay, as the leader of the Kings felt the need to stand up for himself and his team which is likely why he unleashed the verbal dagger towards the Thunder center.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings will face off again on Tuesday in Sacramento on ESPN.
