An Australian mother was arrested for stabbing and killing her 7 kids and her niece who ranged from ages 18 months to 14 years. Read more on this crazy story after the jump!
The Australian mother who has now been identified as 37 year old Mersane Warria, stabbed her 7 children and a niece of hers to death. The stabbing took place at a home in the suburb of Manoora in Cairns, Australia. Emergency services workers covered the view of the house of where the children were killed.
The Australian police arrested Mersane Warria for the killings and she was treated for stab wounds at a hospital and placed under guard by police. One of the victims killed by Warria was her niece and the rest that she killed was her own children. Police blocked off the road near the house where they found the bodies of the children. Warria was also stabbed in the chest. Authorities said that she was in stable condition and speaking to police officers. It is still unknown as to who caused Warria’s injuries to her chest.
Queensland Police Det. Inspector Bruno Asnicar said, “We’re not looking for anybody else, we’re comfortable that the community at large is safe.” Lisa Thaiday, who is the a cousin of Warria, said that Warria’s 20-year-old son arrived home and found his siblings dead. Thaiday said, “I’m going to see him now, he needs comforting…we’re a big family…I just can’t believe it. We just found out about those poor babies.” The killing of the children came just days after a deadly siege at a Sydney restaurant in Australia where a gunman took 18 hostages. Two were left dead at the restaurant. Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that the child killings are “heartbreaking” and that “these are trying times for our country.”
