Breaking News: Police Shooting in Brooklyn officers were in trauma and the gunman is dead…2 police officers have been shot by the Marcy and Tomkins Avenues of Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood this afternoon. One of the officers is confirmed dead and the other is still unconfirmed in critical condition. The officers were rushed to the trauma center of Woodhull Hospital according to 1010 Wins and NY1’s breaking reports within the hour. More on the story as details are developing…

It’s being reported for the Breaking News: Police Shooting in Brooklyn story that the officers were sitting in their patrol car when someone walked up to the car, struck the window and opened fire. As shooting ensued the alleged shooter is said to have shot himself after the incident broke. The gunman so far appears to be a “random act” as there was no arrest or interaction with the officers prior to him opening fire. He’s also said to have shot a friend or girlfriend in another state and is being investigated. It’s so far unconfirmed if the police chiefs, commissioner or mayor’s office are approaching the crime scene.

This event comes on the heels of a highly sensitive air around NYPD officers as well as ongoing protests still taking place in New York City, some say many are still walking around agitated. On top of this is tension from ongoing investigations of arrests in the assault of NYPD officers on the Brooklyn Bridge during protests last week.

This Breaking News: Police Shooting in Brooklyn story also comes on the heels of last month’s shooting of an unarmed Brooklyn man Akai Gurley who was fatally shot in his building’s staircase by rookie police. In additional news last night’s shooting incident at Brooklyn’s Breukelen Houses on East 105th Street leaves a man injured at Brookdale Hospital.
