“I think that hip hop has done more for racial relations than most cultural icons,” he says. “Save Martin Luther King, because his dream speech we realize[d] when President Obama got elected. But, the impact of the music, you know, this music didn’t only influence kids from urban areas. It influenced people all around the world.”

While topics of racism, black -vs- white and cop -vs- black remain the topic of conversation, hip hop icons such as Jay Z, Russell Simmons, Nas, The Game, DJ Mustard and many many more continue to reach an entirely different audience – lovers of hip hop. The culture has enforced impacts that allow us to remain informed and gives us a platform in which we can speak, and be heard. From Jay Z’s lips to out ears, the truth is, hip hop has made an impact on more than just race, but it other realms as well; fashion, politics, business and much more.
