IFWT_Brandon Jennings injury

Brandon Jennings had to be helped to the locker room late in the third quarter of the Detroit Pistons Saturday night 101-86 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.  Jennings fell to the floor, grabbing his leg and writhing in pain.  “It doesn’t look good,” coach Stan Van Gundy said. “It is a major, major loss.”  That injury has now been diagnosed as a full Achilles tear.

After the game Jennings took to his Twitter account saying,

We gotta just keep pushin’ WE (Pistons) worked to hard to get down about anything right now. We gotta stay focus on the main Goal. Playoffs!

Today he simply wrote “6/9 months.”  Indicating how long he will be out.

This is terrible news considering how well Brandon Jennings and the Detroit Pistons have been playing lately.  Jennings was averaging 20.9 points and 7.2 assists for the month of January.  He also set a career high and NBA season high with 21 assists Wednesday in a 128-118 win over Orlando.

This is a big loss for the team that was finally finding their stride under new coach and president Stan Van Gundy.

Van Gundy said D.J. Augustin will have to play a bigger role with Jennings out for the foreseeable future.
