Chicago Bears v New England Patriots

Brandon Browner lined up opposite of Richard Sherman in the secondary for the Seattle Seahawks for three years. But with a Super Bowl on the line, friendship comes second.

Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman were rookies together not all that long ago but now they’re on opposing teams in the biggest game of the year.

Browner didn’t play in last year’s Super Bowl for the Seahawks as he was out with a substance abuse suspension. This Sunday, Browner will line up on the other side of the field from Sherman as a member of the New England Patriots.

And all’s fair in love and football, apparently.

“I’m going to tell my teammates, ‘Go hit [Sherman’s] elbow, go hit [Earl Thomas’] shoulder,’” Browner said in an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson. “’Try to break it if you can.’

“You’re going to be my best friend after the game, but at the end of the day, I know you want that Super Bowl just as bad as I do.”

Browner started nine games for New England this season, with one interception and six passes defensed to go with 29 tackles.

He has 11 career interceptions in 45 NFL games.
