Kobe Bryant is scheduled to undergo surgery today for a torn rotator cuff that will end his season making it the third year in a row that Bryant suffered a season-ending injury.  It’s a lot for any player to deal with including the Black Mamba himself, who’s known for his strength and perseverance.

Bryant gave his feelings on the matter to Bryant at The Players’ Tribune:

Today, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that Kobe Bryant would undergo surgery for his torn rotator cuff on Wednesday. Kobe reached out to The Players’ Tribune with this statement:

“I feel like I just returned a 100 yard kickoff in the last two minutes of the Super Bowl to win it all only to have my run called back by a flag on the play.”

Bryant was fighting hard to get the Los Angeles Lakers into playoff contention although it was a serious long shot.  It’s been reported that he will most definitely come back and play what is expected to be his final season next year.  Bryant has one more shot to try and convince other big free agents to come and join him in LA so he can make one last title run.
