The Brooklyn Nets are tumbling down.  They have a 18-28 record with the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference.  So it would only seem logical that Kevin Garnett would jump ship, seek a buyout and join a contender.  At 38-years old, this could be his final season in the league.  Well it turns out leaving the Nets isn’t in his plans.

Kevin Garnett was asked if he would seek a buyout.  “I’m all in here,” Garnett said.

Garnett is well past his prime as a player at age 38, but he would draw no shortage of interest as a veteran presence in the frontcourt if he were to hit the market. The Clippers are one obvious destination, given the history Garnett has with Doc Rivers from their days together with the Celtics, which included a championship in 2008.

But Garnett says he doesn’t want a buyout on the $12 million he’s currently owed. This is the last year of his contract, and he’s in his 20th season in the NBA. It would be a shock if he didn’t retire. Even if it meant a chance at winning, it’s hard to imagine someone Garnett’s age agreeing to a change like that in the middle of the season.
