DeMarcus Cousins rattled in a buzzer-beating game-winner to lift the Kings to an 85-83 home win over the Suns on Sunday but the mood wasn’t a happy one as reporters gathered around the All-Star center’s locker following the game.
“I ain’t pumped up, I just got a lot on my mind. Crazy thing about it, I just got a question for ya’ll, I just wanna know how you’re gonna stop God’s plan? How are you gonna do that? How are you gonna do that? This city put through me so much, I stayed loyal to it the whole time. God gives the hardest battles to the strongest souls. The marathon continues. I’m out.”
So why is DeMarcus Cousins upset?
Talks are ongoing but reports state that the Sacramento Kings are closing in on hiring George Karl as the new head coach. There’s also been reports that Cousins’ camp is against it and that his camp is the reason talks have stalled. The Kings however are pressing ahead and are said to be firm on the hire.
Cousins is either upset about the pending hire or upset about the rumors blaming him; I believe it’s the latter. Cousins was also very upset about the firing of Mike Malone; the team hasn’t done much to consult, defend or appease their star player.
