The movie is an adaptation of E.L. James S&M bestseller, which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. The movie is now expected to make around $50 to $70 million during the opening by industry insiders. The film made quite an impressive box office opening. Night screenings of the movie started at 8 p.m on 2,830 North American screens.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is the highest late night performance for a film in February and the second highest-grossing one for an R-rated movie, behind “The Hangover 2,” which opened with $10.4 million. The movie was made on a low $40 million dollar budget and it will surely earn more money. The movie earned $8.6 million just from Thursday night screenings alone. The movie is already in the works for two more sequels, even though it’s unclear if the director Sam Taylor-Johnson will return to direct the film.
