Jermaine Dupri Says Ciara Ripped Usher

Uh Oh!…Jermaine Dupri Says Ciara’s “I Bet” Rips Off Usher’s “U Got It Bad” in a recent interview capping off his views on the viral “Blurred Lines” verdict heard round the world. And it wasn’t just a sprinkle or suggestion of a rip off…it was a “complete rip off” he says! So what’s a fellow Atlanta native and legendary producer to do???

This is another plot twist in what’s been looking like a smooth and sexy come-back for the R&B-pop superstar Miss CiCi. With her promo push gearing and the upcoming album Jackie in the works, her good friend in the game Jermaine Dupri Says Ciara’s “I Bet” Rips Off Usher’s “U Got It Bad” and is about to confront her camp about the situation. This is following the end result of the “Blurred Lines” verdict forcing Pharrell and Robin Thicke to pay up $7.4 million to the Marvin Gaye family who’s been quoted as feeling “disrespected.” While they’ll pay that cash back out of the $5 million they each made, $6 million the label made, and $8 million they made in publishing according to Complex (daaaamn), Jermaine not only understands the industry but says he does understand what producers go through:

“Younger producers like myself and Pharrell, we make records that are influenced by other records that are out there,” he tells AP on Thursday. “That’s how hip-hop has always been created — it has some kind of element of something [from] the past. Or sometimes we just take the entire sample and we give the artist the credit for that sample.” He added, “We’ve all been in a position where it could go like this or we can give the producer the credit.”

Still, and it’s all #facts no shade that Jermaine Dupri Says Ciara’s “I Bet” Rips Off Usher’s “U Got It Bad” saying he was 50/50 on the “Blurred Lines” situation but says Ciara puts him in the same position. Jermaine was co-producer on the Usher record which if you recall was a global smash:

“Ciara’s new single is a complete rip-off of Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad,'” he said. “I’m clear on what I made and I’m clear on how music influences people and I’m clear on chord changes and how people move things. … It might not be as evident as the ‘Blurred Lines’ situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me.”

CiCi’s artist and label reps have yet to comment though Jermaine Dupri Says Ciara’s “I Bet” Rips Off Usher’s “U Got It Bad” and plans to contact them directly on behalf of himself, Usher and Bryan-Michael Cox to say–what y’all fitting to do??? Looks like we’ll see what happens…did you realize this connection already or were you still trying to put your finger on it? Could the whole Hip Hop world start to chip away if these uncredited “connections” keep piling up???
