A shooting outside the NSA headquarters leaves one dead and two injured. Officials would like it to be clear that the incident is not an act of terrorism, but, of a “local criminal matter.” The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. this morning [Mar. 30] outside the gates of Fort Meade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland when two men made attempts to ram a truck through the agency’s gates.

Apparently, the two men, who were dressed as women, were stopped at the National Security Agency gate when an argument ensued between them and the guard on duty. It is unclear as to who shot first, however, as a result, one person is dead (that one being one of the SUV occupants) and The Gazette reports that two people were treated with gunshot wounds – a 44-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.

According to the Associated Press:

FBI spokeswoman Amy J. Thoreson said in an email Monday that the shooting scene is contained. The agency is working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland to determine if federal charges are warranted, she said.

Thoreson also says FBI agents are doing interviews with witnesses.
