Boy, just don’t. Former Scandal actor Columbus Short is in the works for some heavy things. Since the whole domestic abuse thing and getting the boot from the Thursday evening show, Short has had to …. let’s just say create his own opportunities. This is why he’s decided to work on creating a reality show as well as a scripted show he calls the “gospel Empire.” Wait, Empire with gospel music? How Sway … You ain’t got the answers.

“I’m producing a show at Bounce TV with my brother [Bounce TV president] Ryan Glover along with Russ Parr and Swirl Films. We’re producing a show that’s basically the Gospel Empire,” he tells Shadow & Act. “It’s going to be full of drama and great music. Kim Burrell is executive music producer.” The gospel version of “EMPIRE”? Ion.

As if jackin’ one show idea isn’t enough, Short is also working on “African Idol”, the African version of American Idol. A different continent, yes, butttt…

I want to diversify, so I have scripted content and some reality content that’s great. From travel, to crazy families, to a show in Ghana which is basically like an “African Idol.” The first season’s going to be in Ghana, then we’re going to South Africa to Kenya to Uganda. So basically, we’re making an “African Idol” like American Idol.

Rumor Mill: It’s also being said that the former Mr. Wright is claimed to even appear on the REAL Empire for season two. “Big things are happening,” Short said during an interview with Access Hollywood Live. He admitted that nothing was official, but that it “wouldn’t be a shock.” We shall see next season.
