Judge Allows Divorce Via Facebook

“Single,” “In a Relationship,” “It’s Complicated…” now it’s legal for you to communicate one more marital status option in a huge way. All of a sudden a New York Judge Allows Woman to Serve Divorce Via Facebook, could this open up a new wave???

A Judge Allows Woman to Serve Divorce Via Facebook and as Complex and the NY Daily News report is yet another reason proving ‘social media kills relationships’ (LOL, but #facts). Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper has allowed a Brooklyn woman to serve her husband divorce papers on Facebook, which–when you think about it–if it had to be this way was probably the best social platform to do it on (you know how sketchy DMs can be).

But why does it have to be this way you might be asking? Apparently the Judge Allows Woman to Serve Divorce Via Facebook as a result of his running out on her years ago and reportedly only communicating by phone and Facebook (well damn…but that’s how it be sometimes SMH). Still, it seems a big leap since this kind of thing unfortunately is a reality and happens to many people all the time. So what made this so special, did the judge just feel like, “hey–it’s 2015, it’s time…” or what?

…the verdict was reportedly an ‘E’ for effort. The woman and her legal team had apparently exhausted every angle to get these papers to him and it came down to this:

“We tried everything, including hiring a private detective — and nothing,” the woman’s lawyer said. The first Facebook message serving the papers was sent to the husband last week, but “so far, he hasn’t responded.”

Any avid Facebook user knows the real thing the legal team and the Judge Allows Woman to Serve Divorce Via Facebook should be asking is, “did he leave you on seen???” But seriously…divorces are hard, hopefully it ends better than it’s going (SMH).
