A 21 year old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a fire escape in Brooklyn. Read more on the story and check out the photos from the scene of the incident in the gallery after the jump!
The unidentified young woman’s suicide shocked those who walked by after she hung herself on the fire escape. She was discovered dead on the third-floor of the fire escape of her apartment building on Utica Ave. near Prospect Place in Crown Heights at about 8:20 a.m.
Many people were terrified and said the sight of the hanging body had left them traumatized. Stella Louise Wiley, 66, who was walking her dog as she saw the hanging body said, “I didn’t need to see that. She was just hanging…She was a nice young lady…She couldn’t come out of that dark spot.” Another man who saw the body stated, “I’m traumatized. We got up and she was dead…She hung herself outside my window…It’s just shocking. It’s not something that happens around here.”
A man who was distraught, identified himself as being the father of the young woman. Her father declined to speak with reporters but neighbors said he visited his daughter quite often. It’s not clear as to how long the woman had been hanging before she was discovered and her name has not been released as of yet.
