The NYPD has been getting a lot of heat since the death of Eric Garner. So they decided to set a couple ground rules pretty much on how not to be racist.Which is racist. These new policies are planned to possibly be given to the graduating class of NYPD officers in June.

According to New York Daily News the federal judge was asked to approve the “Police 101” list and 75 slides detailing “stop-and-frisk” procedures.  Since stop-and-frisk was ruled unconstitutional in 2013 by Federal Judge Shira Scheindlins the new material is being proposed to reform NYPD training.

Police 101 includes some of these ground rules

“1.Do not imitate the speech patterns of other
2.Avoid expressing stereotypical assumptions
3.Tell a person why he or she was stopped
4.Remember most people are good, law-abiding citizens
5.Do not judge the beliefs or customs of people if they’re not breaking the law
6.Don’t target certain races because they appear more often in local crime stats
7.Don’t assume that only criminals fear the police
8.Generic descriptions of a suspect like “young black male” do not support reasonable suspicion
9.Do not engage in racial profiling
10.Do not tell or tolerate ethic, racial or sexist jokes”
