Loretta Lynch

Loretta Lynch has been confirmed as the new U.S. Attorney General. She is the first African-American women to hold that title. This was a long delayed process when she finally won the senate vote 56-43. Loretta graduated from Harvard, and then went onto Harvard Law. After graduation she decided to go onto corporate law. Before having that top job she worked in a case that convicted the NYPD officer who assaulted Haitian immigrant with a broom stick.

The Attorney General is the highest law-enforcement job. Lynch takes on a serious job at a time of a lot of challenges between communities and police forces. She has a great reputation with handling tough cases well, and having a good relationship with law enforcement. Ten Republicans voted yes on Loretta Lynch. There was a delay on her coming into Attorney General because they had to finish the deal of a human trafficking bill. Lynch made history with having the longest delay for her confirmation. A total of 5 months to get confirmation. President Obama called this delay embarrassing.

She was appointed to be U.S. Attorney during President Bill Clinton’s term back in 1999. Obama then again appointed her in 2010. She is currently living in Brooklyn with her husband and two step-children. Loretta Lynch made history as the first african-american women to be the U.S. Attorney General.
