Marvel gets sued by Ben and Ray Lai over Iron Man‘s armor. Brothers and creators of a 2001 comic book series Radix. The Lai brothers saw something very similar in the Iron Man films and its ads, to their own comic book character Radix. While old comics of Iron Man show him “wearing simple spandex-like attire and minimal armor,” states the complaint, and the recent films Iron Man is “wearing a fully mechanized suit of body armor.” And they say, Marvel used the exact same pose from their comic for the “Iron Man” 2 and 3 posters.

But the Lai brothers are no strangers to controversy, according to The Hollywood reporter, “Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) used an illustration that was substantially similar to their own work. The image was allegedly used by MIT in the midst of a $50 million nanotechnology research grant from the United States Army to create a new generation of body armor for soldiers. MIT later apologized publicly for using the image, and a month later, Marvel hired the Lai brothers as artists.”

Iron Man, the superhero alter ego of Tony Stark, is based on a comic book series created by the great Stan Lee in the 1960s. Stan lee hired composer Jack Urbont, who lost a lawsuit against Ghostface Killah and Sony for the use of the “Iron Man Theme” on the albums Iron Man and Supreme Clientele. In 2008 Robert Downey Jr stared in the first installment of the Iron Man trilogy. And now we are on the 2nd installment of The Avengers movie The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

With the new Avengers movie coming out is this just a lame attempt for some promotion for Radix? Are these two guys reaching? Do you notice any similarities?? What are you’re thoughts, comment below!
