BmoreRiots

What was supposed to be a day of mourning and honor to the life that was lost in Freddie Gray, ended up being a chaotic turn of events that is resulting in riots around Baltimore city. Players around the league took to twitter to express views on the tensions in the city. Click more to view the gallery and the player’s tweets.

Whether you live Baltimore or not, it is definitely safe to say that the riots have had some type of effect on your day. The same can be said about various players throughout the league that have responded to the unrest that is taking place in Baltimore. Former Ravens Wide Receiver, Torrey Smith, expressed his feelings toward the situation in Baltimore by tweeting, “It went from a peaceful protest to damn near a war which isn’t going to do anything but delay progress.” Smith also went on to say, “Baltimore this isn’t the answer,” as he obviously has close ties with the city.

Currently a free agent but was a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, LaQuan Williams also chimed in on the unrest that is taking over Baltimore. Williams took to twitter and said, “Speechless, pray for my city,” and he is another player that can closely relate to those residents of Baltimore as he was born and raised there.

Kenny Britt of the St. Louis Rams always expressed his feelings on the riots in Baltimore by saying, “I don’t condone, but I understand,” and his words are perhaps some of the most compelling. It seems that there is always a new instance of police v.s the public and it looks like Baltimore did not see the peaceful protesting as beneficial; but instead decided to gain the attention of the world in another way.
