Earlier, #IFWT, reported that the 6 Officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray are now being charged with crimes. But who is the woman behind it? Click more to read in detail about Marilyn Mosby!

UPDATE:

After news that Marilyn Mosby charged the 6 officers involved with the death of Freddie Gray, the community began to respond immediately. Unsurprisingly, the community was ecstatic about that charges that were brought upon the 6 officers but the Baltimore Police Department shared different views on the charges.

The Baltimore Police are calling for Marilyn Mosby to remove herself from the case because they believe there is conflict of interest. Mosby’s husband is a Baltimore City Councilman who works directly in the area of West Baltimore in which Freddie Gray’s case was initiated. Further, Mosby is said to have ties to the Gray family attorney. The Fraternal Order Of Police is also calling the reading of charges a “rushed and hurried process” due to publicity and pressure of the case–given the national attention it has received.

Coming from a family of police officers, Marilyn Mosby is the woman that the world will be watching as the case against the 6 officers charged in association with the death of Freddie Gray moves forward. It seems that this will be the first major case that Mosby’s department will be handling since she was first elected to the position in January of this year. Mosby addresses the people of Baltimore shortly after word that the charges would be explored gets out, “To the people of Baltimore and demonstrators across America, I heard your call for ‘No justice, No peace…Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man.” This definitely comes as a sigh of relief for Baltimore City as the turmoil in the city has sparked nationwide reactions, both peaceful and violent.

Who Is Marilyn Mosby…

Mosby found that the officers arrested Freddie Gray without probable cause and neglected him as medical attention was needed and his pleas went unanswered. Mosby did, however, emphasize to the public that the actions of the 6 officers does not spill over to the entire force as a whole. Mosby is a person that holds law enforcement close to her heart as her grandfather was one of the founders of the African-American police organization in Massachusetts and both her mother and father were also officers. The emphasis that was put on the relationship between the people and the police was definitely expected.

Mosby, the youngest State Attorney General in the nation, expresses to the public and police alike, that this incident should not diminish the relationship between the police and people of Baltimore. Definitely easier said than done but there is hope that with the outcome that many are looking for and expecting in the end, that relationship between those that reside in Baltimore and those that are employed to protect the city does grow into a better place.
