Last year, the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise attracted a majority of ’90s kids to theaters around the world. The action-packed reboot of the iconic comic book series racked up nearly $485 million when the film premiered July 29th, 2014. Not long after the film’s release, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon announced that a sequel would be ready by 2016. Recently, several photos of Fox from the set of the second film surfaced online, which gives us a closer look at what’s to come when the film debuts next summer. Check out the pics after the jump!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will hopefully clean up its tracks in 2016 after the first film failed to shine light on several aspects from the comic. Recently, the sequel’s producer Michael Bay tweeted out the first image of the goofy, vigilante Casey Jones, who is played by Stephen Amell. Jones isn’t the only character from the series that will make an appearance. Villains Bebop and Rocksteady will also return to the series. There’s no word yet on who will be playing the turtles’ enemies.
Michael Bay’s rendition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an average adaptation about the young, crime-fighting reptiles who mutated in the sewers beneath New York City and were trained to become ninjas by their mentor Splinter. Transformers alum Megan Fox returns as April O’Neil, who discovered Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michaelangelo and helped them thwart their sworn enemy, Foot Clan leader Shredder. Fox will be aiding the karate-chopping turtles once again. However, will Casey Jones become her love interest like in the comics? We’ll have to wait and see until next summer.
