Floyd Mayweather and his camp are flexing their power today in Las Vegas by blocking the media credentials of ESPN’s Michelle Beadle and CNN’s Rachel Nichols from entering the arena for the biggest fight in history. The reason? Both of these reporters have been very critical of Floyd’s past involving domestic violence. As you may know, Floyd has been accused several times of hitting women in his life, and while it seems one of those instances was true, the other’s remain to be proven as fact. Now before you go thinking Floyd is terrible for doing this, there are other factors to remember as well.

@IamJoeSports

Both Rachel Nichols & Michelle Beadle are good at their jobs and have thousands of fans of their own. There is nothing wrong with them wanting to focus so much on Floyd’s alleged incidents involving domestic situations in the past, in fact it is their job. I’m surprised they banned Nichols but not at all surprised they banned Beadle. She has been very critical of him and since Mayweather Promotions controls a large part of the decision making tonight it is fair game.

The thing is if these two reporters severely dislike Floyd and his past, then why did they go to Vegas to cover the fight to begin with? Both reporters work for huge national outlets that are very sensitive to the topic of DV and easily would have allowed them to not work the fight. Fact is both reporters wanted to be in Vegas and wanted to be part of such a historical night which is hypocritical of their own feelings to begin with. They basically trashed Floyd but still want to reap the benefits of being part of such a big day in Las Vegas and Mayweather’s camp has shut that down.

The interview Nichols did with Floyd while back may have played a role in her being denied tonight:
