Robot from The Terminator

An information technology search and advisory firm, Gartner, predicts 33% of jobs will be replaced by smart machines, robots, and software by 2025. Robots and artificial intelligence aren’t just challenging blue-collar jobs, but also, they’re aiming at white-collar professionals. Surgeons, online marketers, financial analysts, anesthesiologist, financial and sport reporters are all not safe.

The world’s first robotized sales assistant was introduced in California earlier this year. At Orchard Supply’s San Jose location, they had their robot named OSHbots greeting people, identifying items, then offers to guide customers to the appropriate aisle without bumping into anything or anyone. Other large corporations are heavily investing in making machines smarter than people. Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, and others are all boarding the new ride to the future. Robots taking 30% of jobs by 2025 has myself thinking to expand my abilities. I wonder what TATWZA thinks?

Computer scientists virtually agree that it will be difficult for robots to detects sarcasm and make jokes with people. The same people are calling this new movement the “Second Machine Age” behind the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a transitional period to new manufacturing practices from 1760 to sometime between 1820-1840. While the revolution created more jobs in the country, people are confused to whether it will help or hurt job creation. If companies decide to phase out humans for machines, they will have to consider the United States Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Who or what will replace the lost money gathered from those who lose work? These robots will not purchase good or services, so how will we contribute? Take this very seriously! It’s very real that robots can take 30% of jobs by 2025.

For now, the robots will stay assisting doctors and nurses in hospitals; they will continue providing services at institutes like MIT; and the robots’ capabilities will continue to expand.
