The First Lady is scheduled to give the commencement speech at Tuskegee University in Alabama today. Michelle Obama will be speaking in front of 500 graduates of this historically black university.

Obama is the second First Lady to to take a trip to this private school, following in the footsteps of Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt flew with a black Army pilot to show support for the Tuskegee Airmen.

The speech will be given in the school’s General Daniel “Chappie” James Arena. Graduates and their guests lined up hours in advance.

Law school bound graduate Sarah Jordan, “This is such a dream come true for me to have her here. She’s a role model for everyone,” she added “It means everything especially because I am an aspiring lawyer. I definitely look up to her,” Obama is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

A crowd of nearly 4,000 waited for the first lady’s speech. Tickets were limited to family members of graduates.

This is not the only visit to schools Obama will be making during this graduation season. The Tuskegee commencement is one of three graduation’s she will be speaking at this year. She is also scheduled to speak at Oberlin College and a high school in her hometown of Chicago.
