The golden boy of the NFL may soon find himself watching Patriots games from home just like another fan. After the Wells Report was released and essentially called Brady a cheater and said he personally knew the balls were being deflated, reactions have been very mixed. The ball is now in the commissioner’s court and he is expected to rule this week but the Patriots are already preparing for the worst.

No one knows specifically what the Deflate-gate punishment will be for Tom Brady, but within Gillette Stadium they are bracing for the worst.

Sources with the Patriots say they are fearful of a lengthy suspension, perhaps in the six- to eight-game range, for Brady in the aftermath of the Wells Report.

Of course any suspension can be appealed and the sentence reduced, but certainly losing Tom Brady for even three or four games would be a tremendous blow for the Patriots next season.

The Patriots backup quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, doesn’t exactly strike fear in the hearts of opponents like lining up against Brady does, but he may find himself in a position to have his name ring bells if he can play well and lead the Pats to some wins in Brady’s absence.
