So, there’s an oil leak in the Hudson River ! Yesterday, around 6 PM a fire broke out in Buchanan, New York. There were no injuries in this fire caused by a damaged transformer. The site was along the river and once the faulty transformer caught fire it began to erupt loads of oil. Trying to contain the oil from leak in the Hudson they first attempted to try and contain the oil in a holding tank. After reaching its limit the oil began to spill right over.

Officials have been quiet about this oil leak in the Hudson River. Governor Andrew Cuomo made a statement voicing his concerns and admitted he was worried. What was first a public safety threat now is an environmental concern . Click for CNN live video coverage on the scene .The fire happened on the non nuclear side, but damage can be just as bad .Especially because of the foam they put into the river. Unfortunately the special foam may in fact be more harmful then helpful. DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) and commercial crews have been called to control the foam and oil leak in the Hudson River.

Several gallons have already been said to have leaked. That alone is enough damage to our environment. Our dear Hudson River that holds our Lady liberty may not be the cleanest but gallons of oil can defiantly ruin any land close by and may cause a lot of dead species to arise along the Hudson. The exact damage to our ecosystem will be confirmed after a more in depth investigation , but they are just thankful no one was hurt in the terrible fire if the transformer causing an oil leak in the Hudson River.
