Scottie

What turned out to be a catastrophic melt down for the Oklahoma City Thunder–after being hit with injury after injury–took a turn for better, or worse depending on who you ask, after they decided to cut ties with head coach Scott Brooks. Normally, a coach would be hungry to find a new opportunity but it doesn’t look like Scott had that same passion–right now. Click more to check the full story!

Scott Brooks’ career in OKC was definitely a good one. At one point, Brooks won coach of the year and his squad was consistently in the playoffs. Back in 2012 the Thunder made it to the NBA finals only to lose to LeBron and the Miami Heat. Unfortunately, under Brooks, OKC never made it back to the big dance and ultimately the Thunder front office decided to end the partnership with Brooks. At the end of the day, a Championship is the goal and if you can’t produce then you have to go.

Given Scott’s track record, and it was pretty decent, a few teams with coaching openings did express interest in Brooks but it seems that he is letting them pass by. The Denver Nuggets and The New Orleans Pelicans–both squads with great potential in the Western Conference–both have openings that Brooks could have interviewed for but it seems that he has other goals in mind.

Brooks is said to want to catch up with his family in California and to perhaps try his hand in sitting in front of the camera and becoming an analyst. It is unfortunate that the OKC front office cut ties with Brooks this year given the circumstances of Durant, Ibaka, as well as Westbrook suffering injuries that ultimately played a huge factor in them not making the playoffs this season, but I expect when Brooks is ready to make a return, he will not have trouble finding work.
