_Will Jaden Smith Star As Static Shock

Is Jaden Smith confirmed to play Static Shock? In a recent interview, actor Tyler James Williams said that Jaden Smith will be playing Static in an upcoming Warner Bros. “Static Shock” film. Read more on the story and check out the video after the jump!

During an interview Tyler James Williams from Everybody Hates Chris and The Walking Dead, stated that “there aren’t a lot of young, black superheroes and an unseen voice in the background says “Static Shock,” and James responded “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” with a smile. He continues by saying, “it’s great to see Static Shock is happening with Jaden.” Smith is rumored to play Static Shock, which Warner Bros. has been developing as a live-action digital series with Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin.

Static Shock features the character Static, which was first created in 1993 by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L. Washington III, and John Paul Leon for Milestone Comics. The DC Comics imprint was created to increase the representation of African-American creators and characters. Static, whose real name is Virgil Hawkins has electricity-based powers. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm who has been cast in the role of Static.
