Thabo1

Thabo Sefolosha was definitely missed by the Atlanta Hawks in this year’s Eastern Conference playoffs and he probably would have made an impact on his helping his squad avoid getting swept by LeBron and the Cavs. Sefolosha recently spoke on his unfortunate run in with the NYPD. If you didn’t know, before the post season began, Thabo Sefolosha and his wife were in NYC during the rallies that were taking place in support of Eric Garner and his unfortunate demise at the hands of NYPD. He and his wife were outside of New York’s 1Oak Night Club were chaos was unfolding after former Knicks player Chris Copeland was stabbed and the run in with the NYPD went down.

According to Sefolosha, he was taking pictures of the protests that were taking place when the NYPD came after him. This is not, in the least bit, hard to believe as the NYPD has an ugly history with police brutality. What better way to follow up with the brutality than to raise the stakes on an NBA player? SMH. Sefolosha was ultimately beaten by the NYPD and he suffered a broken leg because of it; ultimately causing him to miss the remainder of the season as well as the post season.

NYPD Attacking Sefolosha…

Following the attack by NYPD, Sefolosha is considering taking action against the NYPD and I definitely don’t blame him. Sefolosha did not want to compare his situation to the many lives that NYPD has taken but he definitely understands why people view the force as a gang, “I don’t want to compare what happened to me to people losing their lives, but…I got out my car and took a picture of the protest and posted it to my twitter…I just was supportive of it. Actually, hashtag I-Could-Be-Next.”

Watching the video of him being attacked was pretty sickening in itself. The NYPD damaged his reputation as well as his career and who knows how he will bounce back. I hope he does take action against the NYPD and comes out with the win.
