A lot of controversy has been surrounding the intentional fouling of players who are terrible free throw shooters and whether or not the league should do something about it. The league’s commissioner, Adam Silver, recently said the ‘Hack-A-Shaq’strategy will not be taken away from the game! Click more to check out the full story!

#IFWT reported on rumors about the league doing away with the ‘Hack-A-Shaq’ strategy due to it extending games; however, it looks like that will not be happening. Adam Silver recently held a meeting with the 32 general managers of teams throughout the league and it looks like the their decisions on the subject were unanimous. They don’t want it removed!

Silver says the main instances of the intentional fouling only happen when watching two teams play–the Clippers and Rockets. The fouling has been intensified this year mainly because the two teams faced each other in the post season and both DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard were targets because, well, they suck at shooting free throws. The league cannot make such a drastic change to the game to bail out two players in a league of hundreds.

I personally think its great that the league will most likely not change its intentional fouling rules. If you suck at shooting free throws, practice! The theory is brilliant, right? Adam Silver also admitted though despite popular belief, the intentional fouling and extended games have little to no effect on people that are tuned into games. Meaning it does not matter how long the games are going for, people are still watching!
