It’s no secret that Raven Symone has stirred up quite a bit of controversy with some of the statements she’s made over the past year. It seems however, that these statements have landed her in the good graces of ABC, who offered her a position on The View. The former child star has already appeared on the morning show 37 times already and has now earned a permanent seat at the table. Read more after the jump.

Raven Symone took three years off from Hollywood to find herself. She spent her time taking classes, traveling, painting and falling in love. This time off was well spent because according to Symone it prepared her for the journey she will be taking as co-host on The View.

She said,

“Those three years took off every single piece of dead skin that had been growing on me that I had not been able to shed because I was still in the public view,” she continued, “From [ages] 3 to 25 [I worked]. I said, ‘That’s a lot of gunk on top of me.’ Purged it: Sat in my house, went to school, traveled, fell in love. Just did what I needed to do. And now I’m able to be myself, and not a brand that was concocted to sell something. Now I’m who I want to be in the public eye.”

Raven will sit at the table with Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez. ABC confirmed the news yesterday releasing a statement on Twitter. Symone also released a statement saying,

“The Disney Company has made another one of my dreams come true! Being a part of The View family will be a wonderful growing experience for me,” she said in a statement. “The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and has made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host. Let’s have some fun!”

The View is not the only project that the 29 year old is working on right now. She has recently appeared in TV shows like Black-ish and Empire, has begun a bunch of new projects, is taking online classes at the Academy of Art University and will be moving to NYC to be closer to the show.

Congratulations Raven Symone!
