Sprite has a history enmeshed in the Hip- Hop culture. If you remember Kurtis Blow was the first from the craft to appear in a soda commercial from the company. This paved the way for luminaries such as KRS-One, Heavy D, Kid N’ Play, and a list of others. Now, sprite plans to elongated its special relationship with the movement. As part of the “Obey Your Thirst” campaign, the prolific soda pop provider will release cans featuring Nas, Notorious B.I.G, Rakim, and Drake.
Sprite is decking its cans in lyrics from rappers this summer in the US.
Next time you pick up a soda can of the lemon and lime-flavored drink ,it might have the words “know yourself, know your worth” from Drake’s “0 to 100,” or Nas’ “living longevity to the destiny,” from “If I Ruled The World.”
Coca-Cola is also running its “Share a Coke” campaign with hundreds of first names and several common nicknames emblazoned on cans and bottles.
Over the years, Sprite campaigns have also featured other hip-hop artists such as Grandmaster Flash, A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, and Fat Joe.
