Hot97 remembers & Salutes the late great Big Pun for the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York. It has been about 15 years since we lost the legendary rapper Christopher Rios who left an imprint on hip hop forever. The bronx rapper passed away from heart failure in 2000 and remains a love in everyone’s heart. Every year the people of New York look forward to the Puerto Rican Day Parade, what better way to spend the day then to the sounds of the best Puerto Rican rapper of all time .

Paving the way for many Puerto Rican rappers who found it a struggle in a predominantly black culture of music. Hot 97 posted a picture on the stations instagram with picture of Big Pun wishing everyone a safe and fun time at the Puerto Rican day parade. Check out the gallery for some lost files and good times spent with the late rapper.

Big Pun’s album Capital Punishment went No 1 on the R & B hip hop charts. After meeting Fat joe in 1995 and forming Terror Squad the friendship and working relationship made a great success story. Although we lost Big Pun at a young age his attributes and accomplishments for the Hip Hop community as well as the Puerto Rican community never go a day unrecognized.
