A Brooklyn bar is doing its part to take a stand against the wage gap. The have decided to have one night at the bar to celebrate women and only charge them 77 cents to every dollar they rack up in drinks that night. Find out all the details of this bar’s plan to fight sexism and the wage gap after the jump.

The Way Station, a bar in Brooklyn themed after “Doctor Who” will only be charging women 77% of their tab on Tuesday July 7th (7/7). The bar recently sent out an email to promote their event saying, “Let’s level the playing field, even if it is just for one night. Women deserve better. Recognising this discrepancy is just a start.”

Their start comes after uproar from people across the nation when figures were released back in 2013 by the Department of Labor stating, women made 77 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts and according to The Way Station, that is “some shameful sh*t.”

Clearly, offering women a discount on their drinks for one night will not make a huge dent in the wage gap, however their gesture will bring awareness to the issue and get the ball rolling in the direction of change.

The night of the event the bar will feature live music from local artists, in the theme of ‘acoustic soul.’
