Imagine frantically calling 911 for help, while your friend is dying in your arms only to be be hung up on by the 911 dispatcher who tells you to deal with it yourself. That’s exactly what happened to a teenage girl who called for help after her friend, 17 year-old Jaydon Chavez-Silver was shot in a drive-by shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Jaydon Chavez-Silver was at a house party with friends when he was shot by a drive-by shooter. One of his friends called 911 for help, while trying to keep the boy alive. After obtaining the audio from the 911 call, the dispatcher has been reassigned for “alleged misconduct.” Police are still investigating.

The dispatcher hangs up on the frustrated young girl after she curses at him. The call goes like this.

Caller: I’m keeping him alive…

Dispatcher: Is he not breathing?

Caller: Barely. Take one more breath – there you go, Jaydon. … Stay with me, stay with me, ok. Good job, Jaydon.

Dispatcher: Is he breathing?

Caller: He is barely breathing. How may times do I have to f**king tell you?

Dispatcher: Ok, you know what ma’am? You can deal with it yourself. I’m not going to deal with this, ok.

Caller: No! My friend is dying! …

Although Jaydon died from injuries from the gun shot, the family said in their statement to the press that the call only proves that her wasn’t given all the care he need to possibly survive. “We heard rumors about the 911 operator hanging up on the caller when Jaydon was shot but had no other information. After hearing the call today, it is heartbreaking to listen to,” she added, “Right now, we just want to find the people responsible for this violent, deadly crime.”
