When news broke that a NWA biopic film was in the works, there was no better choice than to cast Ice Cube’s son, O’shea Jackson Jr., to play the younger version of his father in the highly-anticipated movie.
Unfortunately he was not able to grow his own jheri curls in time for filming, so Universal had to purchase a wig for him since the curls are a MUST for playing a young Cube.
TMZ caught up with Ice Jr. and was told that Universal footed the bill for a $15,000 jheri curl wig because it was THAT much of a necessity.
Holy curls!
He also had to go through some extensive physical training to get his body weight down in time for shooting.
“To get into that mold physically in 24 days, it was ridiculous CrossFit training and I had to lose weight to look 17. Just 1,500 calories a day and I lost close to 15 pounds,” he explained in another interview about the filming process.
Straight Outta Compton will be hitting theaters on August 13th.
The movie was great. He is so damn fine in the movie. I couldn’t stop looking at him; no other character mattered haha.
