JR Smith is homeless no more. The streaky shooter announced on Instagram that he was finally heading back to the Cavs. According to reports the deal is for two years and for a little less money than the $6.9 million he would have been guaranteed for next year if he had never opted out of his original contract.

JR shared an emotional message, explaining why he opted out to begin with and sounding very happy to be back in #TheLand:

Happy to say that I am returning to the Cavs! It’s been a long ride this summer but I can say for sure, well worth the wait. When I opted out of my contract, I wanted to understand the landscape of the NBA and where I fit best. The Cavaliers had things they needed to do in order to piece together a championship caliber roster. I ended up deciding that instead of potentially securing a larger deal elsewhere, I wanted to rejoin an incredible organization in pursuit of the ultimate goal, an NBA championship. Thank you to the Cavaliers for making this happen. Can’t wait to get started! #TheLand

JR made a bad business decision to opt out after playing like a complete joke in the NBA Finals. Had he shown up for that series against the Warriors and even played average, odds are he would have found a nice deal out there somewhere. But since he stunk up the place the entire six games, it reminded teams how streaky he can be when he is off.

Reports say the deal is for two years at roughly $10 million total. So the average of $5 million per year for this upcoming season is just about $2 million less than what he could have made but it is what it is.

He is happy to have a home and make another run at the Finals alongside Lebron, Kyrie & Kevin Love.

Speaking of Lebron, he was quick to show JR some love on twitter and seemed equally as happy to have JR back. Check the gallery!
