Following his stop at a New Jersey school and the use of “Alright” during a university protest is the ‘Be Alright’ scholarship. OogeeWoogee is asking that applicants submit a 2-3 minute video on the positive side of hip-hop, using poetry, rap and/or visual art as a stepping stone. Entries with the most “likes” and “shares” will be the winner who gains $1,500 towards tuition and books.

“We always wanted to create a hip hop inspired scholarship,” said OogeeWoogee’s content director Wilkine Brutus. “‘Alright’ came at the right time and the visit to the high school gave us a concrete idea of what we wanted.”

“Be Alright” College Scholarship (August 2015) on Oogeewoogee.

Dope move; blending education with music culture. I suggest all eligible students enter. The contest began Friday, August 21st at 8am and will end Tuesday, August 25th at 9:30am.

High Tech High School will be the first school to participate in this scholarship. We will extend it to Philadelphia, and then hopefully make it a nationwide opportunity in the near future.
