Curtis Young may not have been heavily involved with the record-breaking biopic Straight Outta Compton. However, the spawn of Dr. Dre will be involved in another film about his dad’s outstanding music career. In a recent interview, Young confirmed that he will play his father in the upcoming Dogg Pound For Life movie. See what Young had to say about the biopic after the jump.

Curtis Young sat down to XXL to talk about his relationship with his father Dr. Dre. The 33-year-old rapper revealed how he met his father at the age of 20 after years of trying to get in contact with him through his lawyers. Young first found out the Dre was his dad at age 12. Once his mother and her ex-boyfriend separated, Young was determined find his identity and meet his real father.

“You’re going through all this and you’re trying to find yourself, that’s a whole different period I went through,” Young said. “I was like, ‘I just want to be just like him. I’m going to wear khakis and I’m going to be a gangster.’ It just really wasn’t me. I grew up in Compton, not that I’m no punk or anything, but I never had that in me. Everybody knew me and I was cool. I was the ladies man. Something that I had to grow into was just being Curtis Young. Curtis Young is a grown and sexy vibe, just talking about the life stories that I’ve been through. I had it rough. It’s not your average story.”

Young also talked about his own music endeavors and touched on his involvement with the next major hip-hop biopic Dogg Pound For Life. He confirmed that he will be portraying his father in the film led by Dogg Pound members Snoop Dogg and Daz Dillinger.

“There’s no sequel to Straight Outta Compton,” he says, referring to the N.W.A biopic that portrays his father. “This is the Dogg Pound For Life movie. I’m cast to play my father. That is official. Right now they’re looking for funding. There are talks with 50 Cent and some other people. The script is pretty much done. I can’t really speak on the characters but I just got photos of who’s going to be playing who. I’m just really excited to be a part of it.”
