Fetty Wap was the big winner of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards but unfortunately for him, he couldn’t be in attendance to personally pick up his first ever moon man award!
People seemed to be rather confused as to why Fetty wasn’t at the Microsoft Theater to claim his VMA award – beating Vance Joy in the “Artist to Watch” category. When I last checked, Fetty snagged the award with an impressive 70% of the vote while Vance Joy only received 30%.
The real reason that the “Trap Queen” artist was unable to attend the awards was quite simply. No – he isn’t “too good” for the VMAs like many were saying online. The real reason is that he’s on tour right now with Chris Brown for their One Hell of A Nite Tour, and he had a show to perform in Jones Beach!
When an artist goes on tour, there are certain guidelines one must abide by prior to hitting the road. Fetty took to his IG to record a video thanking all of his fans for voting, further more explaining that he’s currently on the road with Breezy, Omarion, Teyana Taylor and Kid Ink for the tour. He also reminded us that September 25th is the big day his debut self-titled album is being released!
Just a few months ago, Fetty was just an up-and-coming rapper out of Paterson, New Jersey so to be winning VMAs and even getting nominated for “Best Hip-Hop Video” along with HUGE names such as Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean is an absolute blessing for Mr. Wap.
