This is just such sad news. A Houston teen accidentally shot and killed himself while posing with a gun for an Instagram selfie. Deleon Alonso Smith, a 19 year-old father of two, tragically shot himself in throat on Tuesday.

According to police reports the 19 year-old and one of his cousins found the gun earlier that day. While the cousin was in another room, Smith attempted to take a selfie that ultimately took his life. The young boy’s uncle, Eric Douglas, attempted to save him, but failed. He said, “it’s the worst feeling in my life.”
Deleon’s grandmother said, “It’s a numb feeling. It’s still unbelievable,” adding, “Yesterday was my birthday and he came to wish me happy birthday, and then to hear this kind of news.” Police are still investigating for further details. Deleon leaves behind two young daughters and a goals to go to community college.
