Yesterday marked the 19th anniversary of Tupac’s passing (can you believe it?), and Kendrick Lamar wanted to commemorate the occasion with an open letter to his favorite artist.

“I was 8 yrs old when I first saw you,” the letter began, which was published on 2pac.com. “I couldn’t describe how I felt at that moment. So many different emotions. Full of excitement. Full of joy and eagerness…”
