Iggy Azalea

Okay, I don’t know if I heard this interview wrong, but I truly think that everyone is taking T.I.’s comments out of context. Yesterday, the Grand Hustle CEO appeared on Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning to discuss his new EP, Da’ Nic. While there, the topic of his artist Iggy Azalea came up, and he admitted he hadn’t spoken to her in some time.

Tip spoke on the fumbles she took in her short time in the game, and how at one point (after the Q-Tip debacle) he had to take a step back and let her fumble on her own…but never once in that situation did I hear him say he is no longer working with Iggy. In fact, when discussing what she needs to do to get back on course, he named himself as one of her many resources for when she chooses to do so. I took this interview as him saying he wasn’t holding her hand anymore, and he hadn’t talked to her merely because she hasn’t been doing anything musically and only spending time with her fiancé, Nick Young.

I could be wrong, but that’s really how I heard it. I think the wording of the title on YouTube and then every other site copying the same quote from Tip (which wasn’t even the full quote) brought us here. It left Iggy reportedly “blindsided,” and her team allegedly gave a statement to Global Grind about it all:

“She didn’t know there was a problem since T.I. is still collecting publishing checks and acting like everything is normal between them.”

Iggy has since commented on Global Grind‘s report, though it appears some of the tweets have been deleted:

She also responded to a fan with the following:

“i have the same relationship that he has with travis scott and i dont see them writing about that. we dont get pedis together. and thats his MANAGER. Tip handles my publishing, i see him as much as i see my label bosses. its a business relationship. people dont understand when he came into my life he was mentoring me, i was 21 and it was my second mixtape. im not in atl making mixtapes anymore, im25 years old, live half way across the country and know what i want to do creatively. that means our relationship has changed to something thats really just publishing and business based. Its supposed to… im not supposed to be leaning on the man for help forever. tip and me a friends, but its always been business/creative thing. its not some thing were i hang out at his house and we eat popcorn together and it never has been.”

Seems to me like I was right!
