It is no secret that R&B diva Ashanti is absolutely gorgeous and extremely talented, but 37-year-old Devar Hurd has taken things above and beyond as far as being a creep is concerned.
Hurd has a long history of stalking Ashanti and her family and was sentenced to two years in prison by a judge for his creepy ways. However the judge called a mistrial and he was just given a restraining order, which he recently violated after he tweeted Ashanti and followed her sister around.
Hurd had to attend his court date for violating his restraining order on September 30th and represented himself since no lawyer in their right mind would even take on his case.
“She thought I was two-timing her, that I wasn’t being loyal and trustworthy as I claimed to be to her,” Hurd said in his opening statement. “The [prosecutors] want to attack your intelligence today — they want to manipulate you,” he continued to say as he rambled on about a bunch of nonsense.
As he continued to speak about a bunch of irrelevant things along with “the power that be,” Attorney Kathryn Werner proceeded to rip his entire life in court.
“The defendant chose not to follow those orders, in fact he intentionally disobeyed them,” Werner said. “They still live in fear of the defendant. Ashanti still hires extra security for her protection when she is in New York to ensure the defendant is kept away from her.”
He could face up to four years in prison if he’s convicted.
