Well, this is not too much of a surprise to see. After Hov announced that he would be celebrating Tidal’s 1,000,000 subscriber mark, many assumed a concert would be in place in Brooklyn. However, no one–including myself–thought that the line up for the show would be as sick as it is. Alas, tickets went on sale today at noon and as expected, they were gone in a matter of 10 minutes!

Tidal initially announced a line up of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Prince, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, T.I, Usher, Fabolous, and more but today, a few more artist were added. The new additions to the line up include Pusha T, Vic Mensa, Travi$ Scott, and Hit-Boy! I was expecting the concert to feature just Jay-Z as it seems that he now annually performs at the Barclays Center around this time of year but after that line up it is easy to see why the tickets went so fast.

Hov has been doing a lot to push his new streaming venture and despite backlash from various audiences about its success and it comparisons to the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, he once again shows his great business sense after seeing that the platform has reached 1,000,000 subscriptions. Congrats to Hov and the entire Tidal X crew for staying diligent and maintaining composure even through slanderous headlines. All proceeds from the sold out show will be given to charity with efforts to accommodate positive community relations as well as changing systemic struggles faced by various groups in society.

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of attending Jay’s intimate B-Sides show at Terminal 5 in NYC thanks to Tidal and from there, the success of the streaming service was obvious. Although tickets have sold out for this once in a lifetime show in Brooklyn, when there is a will there is a way!
