L-Boogie is back ladies and gentlemen; well, she’s been back with all of the concert stops and all, but this is what fans were waiting for. Lauryn Hill is working on a new album, and it’s more closer to completion than we thought. According to Phil Nicolo, Hill’s producer, in recent sit down with the FADER, “She wants to be right. She wants to be perfect,” before she releases the project.

It’s been a while since fans’ ears were fresh to the sounds of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill; and although Nicolo was skeptical of Hill’s return in the past, he’s all in now due to Jersey girl’s change in attitude.

“When she was first getting back into it, there were times when she wasn’t as positive,” he recalls. “But I think she’s in the best place I’ve ever seen her. She seems happy and very centered.”

Nicolo adds:

She began touring again five years ago as a way of exercising artistic muscle and financing her recording plans, says Phil Nicolo, one of her current producers and a founder of Ruffhouse, the Fugees’ original label. According to Nicolo, she is closer than ever to finishing the follow-up to Miseducation… He says she’s already built up enough material to release a new album, and that musically, it will harken back to Miseducation. Whereas the few tracks she’s released in recent years feature a stream-of-consciousness that is harsh at times, Nicolo describes this work as “much more musical.” It is political, but also deeply personal, he says. She is drawing “from all of her inputs.”

Listen, anything Lauryn Hill, I’m there for. This is what the music world needs right now … some you might win some, but you just lost one
