Johnny Manziel and his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley are trying to nip this story in the bud before sports sites and networks make it more than what it is. ESPN is already thirsting, replaying the story over and over this evening as if it was some continuous breaking news in their ongoing effort to be more tabloid than sports network.

As you know, police were called after reports of a car driving reckless on the highway. It turned out to be Manziel and his girl and police discovered the couple were fighting. There was also the presence of alcohol but nothing over the legal limit.
It doesn’t sound like anything more than a typical fight between a couple but because Johnny is who he is, the story gets more attention than it probably deserves. Both he and Colleen took to social media to explain what happened.
Colleen and I got into a dumb public argument on the way home Monday afternoon. It probably looked more interesting than it was and I know I would stop and check if I saw a couple arguing on the side of the road. It was embarrassing but not serious…and when we talked to the police and they realized everything was alright and I was sober, we went home together and everything is fine.
That was combined with Colleen’s statement on Instagram, where she said ” J & I are good. I appreciate the people who stopped to check on us and call the police, I could see how it may have looked. Anytime anyone sees a guy and girl arguing on the side of the road they should definitely stop, you never know what it could be. Fortunately it was just an argument , it was private, and we’re all good”
Now, police did say Colleen said Johnny pushed her head off the window so he may have to answer for that but other than that this seems like nothing major. Even the fact alcohol was involved shouldn’t be a big deal because it was clearly not an issue with police and just because Manziel went to rehab doesn’t mean he can never drink again. He just had to learn how to do it moderately and up until now everything has been fine with him.
You really need to understand that “drinking in moderation” is not the goal of rehab…it is to stop drinking entirely. Alcoholics cannot drink in moderation. That is the nature of the disease.
