You originally know them from ‘Making The Band’ and then the girl group Danity Kane but now known as Dumblonde, singers Aubrey Oday and Shannon Bex discuss Diddy, drama and new music.

In a recent podcast with HollywoodLife Aubrey Oday and Shannon Bex took a stroll down memory lane while also speaking on their current situation. The two ladies discussed what led to the end of their former group Danity Kane, and how happy they are in their new one dumblonde!

When asked about working with Diddy the ladies said:

Aubrey:

“We didn’t get to decide anything. We were literally handed tracks that were already referenced for us. We didn’t have any control,”

Aubrey then states that Diddy was the reason behind the original split of Danity Kane.

“It wasn’t the group’s decision; he fired me from the group and it dismantled after that.”

When asked why she believes she was fired she said “I think it was just an excuse to end what he was doing with us in order to move onto his next project, which he already had underway with one of our group members in it,”

DK3 was later formed with Aubrey Oday Shannon Bex and Dawn Richards but that didn’t last long, it literally ended in a physical fight and when Aubrey was asked if they could ever come back from that she said

“We couldn’t recover from physical violence,” …“I’ve only experienced physical abuse in my childhood, so experiencing that as an adult immediately brought me back to that feeling.

Dumblonde released their first studio album on Septemeber 25,2015. To prepare for this album Shannon says

” We would get to the studio [and] put our phones in a basket. We didn’t give ourselves any rules. We wanted to explore. We wanted to find Dumblonde sound and it was very organic,”

And Aubrey added …

“We didn’t want any energy pushing us toward making a radio single.”

The ladies say that this is the best album they’ve done yet. They say this time around things are different,less drama and more music!
