Back in March, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were ordered by a judge to pay $7.3 Million for infringement of Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” on their duet “Blurred Lines.” “The Hollywood Reporter” has obtained the video of Pharrell’s questioning that goes along with that case.

While asked about a previous questioning, Pharrell says,

“There was a myriad of ludicrous questions, I’m sorry. When I see nonsense, I try not to waste my memory for it.”

He was questioned about Bluegrass Harmonies where he responded,

“Usually in bluegrass, they use a certain chord structure, certain chord progressions, so I just did what comes naturally to mind.”

He respsonded to many of the questions by saying “Im not comfortable with this.”

Pharrell stated he did not go to college for music, he can read musical notation but he can not write it. When asked to explain some of the musical references he turns to the musicologist who was present at the time. Sounds to me like Pharrell was not beat for any of the bull.

He was asked if he thought his song and Gaye’s song shared the same bass line and he replied,

“I see when people say they feel that, I understand that, but the truth of the matter is that silk and rayon are different things. They just feel the same.”
